Title: Certificate of Academic Advising (CAA): Using Career Assessments to Support Parallel Planning
Instructor: Maggie O'Brien, M.Ed., Assistant Director of Career Exploration and Justin Burnley, Career Consultant Date: December 10 Time: 10:00am-12:00pm
Location: via Zoom
Description
Creating parallel plans is an important part of students academic experience (especially when applying to high demand majors), but encouraging students to proactively consider alternative major pathways can be a challenge. This workshop hosted by the UGA Career Center will equip you to have conversations with students about parallel planning and show you how career assessments can help. During this interactive workshop, you will take a career assessment, learn more about your results, and apply what you learn to your work with students. As a result of this workshop, you will better understand the value (as well as the limitations) of career assessments, have more confidence in your ability to help students proactively create parallel plans, and identify how the Career Center can support you and your students in this process.
