Title: Certificate of Academic Advising (CAA): Using Career Assessments to Support Parallel Planning
Instructor: Maggie O'Brien, M.Ed., Assistant Director of Career Exploration and Justin Burnley, Career Consultant
Location: via Zoom
Description
Creating parallel plans is an important part of a students academic experience (especially when applying to high demand majors), but encouraging students to proactively consider alternative major pathways can be a challenge. This workshop by the UGA Career Center will equip you to have conversations with students about parallel planning using career assessments. During this interactive workshop, you will take a career assessment, learn more about your results, and apply what you learn to your work with students. As a result of this workshop, you will be able to differentiate the value (as well as the limitations) of career assessments, develop a strategy to help students proactively create parallel plans, and identify how the Career Center can support you and your students in this process.
