Description

Advisors are in a unique role of helping students navigate the college experience. Issues that arise with International students may be different than those involving students born and raised in the U.S. This class will equip advisors across campus with the knowledge and skills to more effectively advise and assist international students on the UGA campus. Topics include developing an understanding of students backgrounds, learning to navigate potential language barriers as well as immigration policies and adjustment issues, and discovering resources for student referrals. The goal of this class is to equip advisors with the tools to empower their International students. The class will include time for role-plays and discussions.
