Tornado Shelter Areas
Building: UGA HEALTH CENTER 1701




During a tornado warning, building occupants should seek shelter on the lowest level of the building in an area devoid of windows and high ceilings.


Tornado shelter areas
A. The Basement is the Primary Tornado Shelter (PTS) for the UHC facility. As feasible, individuals in the areas listed from A1-A4 should evacuate to the basement during a Tornado Warning. 1. Floor 3: All areas including Administration, Business Services, Conference Rooms (A, B, C, D, and E), Dental Clinic, Break Room, Information Technology, Quality & Performance Excellence, and the Well-being Room 2. Floor 2: Counseling & Psychiatric Services (CAPS) 3. Floor 1: Allergy & Travel Clinic (ATC), Fontaine Center, Patient Accounts, Pharmacy, Vision Clinic (VC), and RHI 4. Facility Common Spaces: Atriums, hallways, public and service elevators, stairwells B. Alternate Tornado Shelters (ATSs) are established throughout the UHC facility as follows. The ATSs will help reduce shelter crowding in the basement, improve infection control and prevention, and facilitate the management of acutely ill or injured patients during a Tornado Warning. Official GREEN Tornado Shelter signage will be posted in designated Alternate Tornado Shelter locations. 1. Medical Clinics Blue & Green: Internal hallways between check-in and nursing stations. 2. Gynecology and Massage Therapy (MT): Back hallway and designated Gynecology internal rooms. No one is to remain in MT. 3. Medical Clinic Red (MCR), Physical Therapy (PT), Laboratory, & Radiology: Back hallway of MCR and designated MCR internal rooms. No one is to remain in PT, Laboratory, or Radiology. 4. Medical Clinic Gold (MCG) & Triage and Acute Care Clinic (TACC): MCG nurses station, hallway, and designated MCG & TACC internal rooms. 5. Registration Desk: Room #1202 which is located behind UHCs Primary Registration Desk.
